Are the lack of adequate facilities helping the Cubs to suck hard? Are the shitty cages, shitty overall training facilities, etc. holding them back? Yea? Nay? I say yea.


Also, is it clear to everyone else that Soriano and Bradley continue to be injured?

Yes. So much to the point that (and I know this discussion has taken place on more than one occasion) I would be fine with a new ballpark. Build a replica, with nicer facilities, somewhere else on the north side. They need a place where people can fucking park, and where they can play a regular schedule of night baseball.

And yes. I think both of them are hurting. When was Soriano's last home run? And Bradley is definitely fucked up.

I'd be fine with that as well. They should turn Wrigley into a museum and build something in a different location with modern facilities, but with the same feel as Wrigley.

Wrigley will come down as soon as Fenway does. Not sure what Fenway's facilities are like, but blaming the Cubs' woes on the facilities seems absurd to me. I guess if you truly believe in curses, I can see where you'd want a new stadium. WHo was it that spoke out against the Cub facilities after he was traded or let go? Latroy?

As for the lack of parking, etc., I agree that it'd be nice to have a new parking facility, but as dk says, unless you tear down something, it ain't happening on the north side.

Vine, how are you supposed to train when you don't even have training facilities? There's not even multiple cages for more than one guy to use, you have to wait in line. Those are the facilities I'm talking about, I could give a shit less about parking and the like.

Wrigley Field is too valuable to the franchise to tear down or move from. The only viable option is to completely redo the park to modernize everything. I'm sure that would mean a season at the Cell, but it would be worth it in the long run.

There has been talk of Schaumburg or Arlington Heights. They could do that without having to play on the South side, and they could have as much space as they possibly want...

Obviously until ownership is resolved, there will be no direction on this.

BTW, it's a disadvantage to play most of your home games during the day and then the postseason starts and you don't get to play a day game ever again.

I would give some sort of credence to this if we won every single day game played during the week. Other teams find ways to come to wrigley and win in the day, even though they aren't accustomed to it. There isn't some magical thing that happens when the sun goes down. I think it's just us trying to find reasons why we have sucked in the playoffs. I think it's cause we didn't have Milton Bradley the last two years.
