Supposedly, they are both on track for a mid August return. Hell, it may even happen during the SOITOW weekend.

From Miles:
QUOTE Lilly has surgery: Left-handed pitcher Ted Lilly underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Monday. The Cubs say the procedure went well and that Lilly will be back at the park Tuesday to begin rehabbing the knee. He's already on the disabled list with left-shoulder inflammation. The Cubs expect him to miss 4-5 starts.

This and that: The Cubs may want catcher Geovany Soto to get 2-3 games in the minor leagues on a rehab stint as he recovers from an oblique injury. Soto may be back next week.

I get the feeling we're not getting shit from Soto the rest of the year. He's been pretty banged up from the start, and I'm not sure he can get it going the last couple of months. I know it won't happen, but should Hendry at least be exploring the possibility of Victor Martinez? It doesn't look like he would cost too much, and he'd basically be a rental.

They wanted Buchholz from Boston, he will cost a lot.

We are not getting anything out of the catcher position right now, so any little bit will help.

Yeah, even if Soto hits .250 with some pop the rest of the way, it will be an improvement over Hill offensively. I'm not worried. Maybe he'll do better after some time off and more rest going forward.

Soto was just starting to hit too...

Yeah. He was looking like last year's self. Had a .916 OPS In June and .841 OPS so far this month. His absolutely awful April(.109 AVG, .398 OPS) really brought his numbers down.

Agree. I think catchers almost have it worse than pitchers.

I thing his shoulder had more to do with his poor start than the WBC.
The thing you need to remember is that all Cardinals fans and all White Sox fans are very bad people. It's a fact that has been scientifically proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Being a Cubs fan is the only path to rightousness and piousness. Cardinal and White Sox fans exist to be the dark, diabolical forces that oppose us. They are the yin to our yang, the Joker to our Batman, the demon to our angel, the insurgence to our freedom, the oil to our water, the club to our baby seal. Their happiness occurs only in direct conflict with everything that is pure and good in this world.

Coming into camp fat, and then sitting on his arse during the WBC were the worst things that could have happened to him. I'm surprised he didn't get injured sooner.
