Brewer moves today
#1
The Brewers fired pitching coach Bill Castro today and replaced him with Chris Bosio.

JJ Hardy was sent down to the minors which is kind of surprising since they were talking to Boston about trading him. I don't follow much but always thought he was kind of a decent player, he must have really went into a slide.

It's going to be down to us and the Cruds anyways.

They're bringing up Escobar, to give their top prospect a chance. Hardy has been awful this season.

And they DFA'd Bill Hall. Newguy will be pissed.

BA's Ben Badler on Hardy:

I would love to snag Hardy and bump Theriot to 2B if for nothing more than improve the infield defense. It's too bad Milwuakee will want an arm and a leg in exchange for him if he's staying in the division. That, and I'm sure there's plenty of teams that would claim him on waivers before us.

I believe Hardy still has options so he's not on waivers. I wasn't under the impression that Hardy was a plus defender. However, I don't watch him enough to know for sure..

He's an excellent defender and the only reason I mentioned him going on waivers is that's the only way the Cubs would be able to acquire him this season.

Would the Cubs have any interest in Bill Hall at all?

Bill Hall is a head case, I'd say no.

JJ Hardy is intriquing, I've seen him play some pretty good ball and I think he's one of those that might flourish by joining another team.

I'd love to steal Hardy away from them, but it ain't happening, at least not this season.

Hardy has a huge upside and is an excellent defensive SS. His problem is that they never knew where to stick him in the order and he runs real hot and cold. I'm not certain how he has options, but he was optioned down to Nashville. He's in his 5th year and has 1 more year of arbitration (which makes me wonder how he still has options).
I got nothin'.

According to MLBTR, if Hardy spends at least 20 days in the minor leagues, he has to wait another year to reach free agency.

Bill Hall intrigues me. Tons of talent, with the ability to play all over the field.
