Patterson and Pie are examples of how hard it is to find someone athletic enough to play a good CF, and be a good hitter. The Cubs need to start investing their money up the middle. It is a lot easier to find productive corner OFers.

Mike Cameron has always been pretty underrated. The guy can hit and has always played a very good CF. Of course he'll also be 37 next season.

Cameron is putting up an OPS over .800 this year isn't he? At least the last time I saw he was. I would take that from a centerfielder...although you have to think at his age he is going to start to decline at a rapid pace.

Seriously though, center field is the new third base for the Cubs, except instead of Santo we're trying to replace the great Jim Edmunds, Felix Pie, Corey Patterson, Gary Matthews Jr., Damon Buford, Lance Johnson, Brian McRae, Karl Rhodes and countless other disappointments over the last 15 or so years. I'd like to see a deal for B.J. Upton, but I doubt that will happen.
