Why

Would Bochy take Penny out? I'm happy he did, but push button managing can be so stupid sometimes.
I wish that I believed in Fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.

Why would Lou call a pitchout with a 2-0 count and the tying run on first in the bottom of the 9th? Please tell me gameday is wrong

Gameday is (sorta) wrong. On TV they showed Lou asking the coaches if they called a pitchout. My guess is that someone screwed up the signals.

I have a friend who is a Giants fan, and I've gotta say...it was pretty satisfying watching the Cubs help kill their playoff hopes last night. Is there something wrong with me that I want him to share in my misery instead of hoping his team does well?

Yes.

But we knew that.

No, there's nothing wrong with that. Misery loves company.

Since this season has been shit, at least we got the chance to play spoiler (kind of, sort of).

What do you mean?

The Cubs still have a 0.2% of making the playoffs this year according to the ESPN standings page. A Cubs loss last night and that probability gets cut in half.

Granted with Lee probably not available, it's going to be tough to defy that 99.8% but it's right there. Maybe Lou could institute a rule against celebrating till after the playoffs?

The Cubs are right there on the verge of blowing this wide open.
