Lou Brock is one of the most overrated players in the game. He's right up there with Ozzie Smith.

Ok... so you're saying he doesn't belong on a list that includes Mark Prior?

He belongs on that list. Me saying he's overrated was an independent thought.

If he hadn't been on so many championship teams, we probably wouldn't be talking about him that much today and referring to him as a "great" player. Also, regardless of the player he turned into, it is a retarded idea for the Cubs to trade a player with even a tiny bit of potential to the Cards ever. Our organization deserves all the ridicule in the world for that alone.

I was trying to imply during the last 30 years. I also only looked through the amateur draft which began in 1965.
Also, to further Butcher's argument...
Tim Raines in 110 few games has more HR, RBI, BB (twice as many), less K's(half as many), better ba, obp, slg, ops+, and is within 130 SB (while being caught half as many times), but he's not in the HOF and won't be.
Baseball Ref Comparison
I got nothin'.

For the record, I totally agree that Lou Brock is overrated and should not be a HOFer.

3000 hits and 900 SB. That's why he's there. Longevity and being fast.

Shit, looking at those comps, had Lofton played in the 60s and 70s, he'd be a first ballot HOFer.
