Has anyone seen it? It came out a few years ago, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the kid from 3rd Rock from the Sun. A neat twist on the detective noir by situating most of the players in high school. The dialogue is a lot of fun--real gumshoe stuff--but the tone is serious. The writer/director, Rian Johnson, ha written materials of the movie up on his web site.

Highly recommended for those who like something different--if at times ridiculous--in their flicks.

Yep, there was an old thread about this way back at the old site. Very good neo-noir movie.

I figured with this crowd that many would have seen the movie; it escaped me at the time, but 2005 was a turbulent year in my life.

I just didn't buy into the dialogue even though I thought it was a very clever idea. Big fan of Film Noir but I didn't think this was that good. Great job by Gordon but also pretty entertaining for an average film.

I just watched this the other night, and I thought it was OK. There were some pretty funny parts -- like when The Pin and the main dude are discussing business and The Pin's mom serves him Corn Flakes and OJ.

I hard a hard time buying Gordon-Levitt in that role, for some reason. His character sure could take a beating...

It was clever, but the dialogue was a little distracting and it made it hard for me to follow the narrative.

I'd give it 2.5 out of 4 stars.
