They're not considering it, it's already been decided on.

Exactly. As much as we all would like to see another middle IF added, it just isn't in the cards. The only name that ever was mentioned all offseason was Castillo, and we're not taking on his stupid contract.
Accept it guys, the most we're adding before we break camp is a 4th OF and RP, unless we get an unbelievable deal.

Trust me, I am resigned to the idea that we are going to go with that platoon. I just don't understand it. We could probably get Hudson for 4 million a year. The guy has a great glove and a decent bat, just seems like a guy that would have been a perfect fit for this team. However, we will go and spend that money of Jermaine Dye or someone else that we don't really need. Oh well, such is the life of a Cubs fan....disappointment.

Go read the rumors for about 25 of the major league teams. Every single one of them is waiting for the price of Hudson to come down. Literally any team with a sub standard 2b or ss is looking at Hudson. My guess is that if his price comes down to 4 million, there will be any number of takers.
I wish that I believed in Fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.

He only made 3.2 million last year and there didn't seem to be a whole lot of teams knocking down his door then.

Thats because he was a type A free agent and no one wanted to give up their 1st round pick to sign him.

And there was concern about his health after coming of a fairly serious injury.

And this past season, his numbers fell off a cliff at the end of the season, so teams are similarly concerned.

What they said.
Actually my bigger point is that we as fans tend to act as if the Cubs exist in a vacuum. Where they can simply pick out whomever they want at whatever price they deem appropriate. There are lots of other teams who have the same needs as we do. So Sheets will probably have his pick of teams to sign with, and Hudson will probably draw interest from any number of teams.
Along those lines, if the Cubs are looking for relief help, I am puzzled as to why they let DJ Carrasco get away, as the Pirates signed him to a minor league contract. He would have fit the bill, I assume, and he was NOT in big demand.

I understand that the Cubs do not exist in a vacuum...what I don't understand is why they are never even mentioned in any Hudson rumors.
