Opening Day 25 man roster
#1
Assuming health, what's your roster?

Soto
Hill

Lee

Fontenot
Baker

Theriot
Blanco

Ramirez
Tracy

Soriano
Byrd
Fukudome
Nady

Zambrano
Dempster
Lilly
Wells
Marshall

Marmol
Guzman
Grabow
Samardzija
Gorzelanny
Stevens
Gray

Basically there's middle relief and and 1 or 2 bench spots up fpr grabs.

I think Stevens will be at AAA and we probably will trade for another middle reliever to replace him. Also, switch Gorzelanny and Marshall, and I think that is how we start the season.

Do you think we just release Silva?

I think Fuld will make the team, probably over Tracy. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Silva gets a shot in the rotation just to try and get something out of the Bradley deal. If not him, I think Gorzo will win it.
The thing you need to remember is that all Cardinals fans and all White Sox fans are very bad people. It's a fact that has been scientifically proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Being a Cubs fan is the only path to rightousness and piousness. Cardinal and White Sox fans exist to be the dark, diabolical forces that oppose us. They are the yin to our yang, the Joker to our Batman, the demon to our angel, the insurgence to our freedom, the oil to our water, the club to our baby seal. Their happiness occurs only in direct conflict with everything that is pure and good in this world.

Either that or manufacture an injury and send him down to AAA to rehab and see if he has anything left.

fuld will make it instead of Tracy. Unless they go with 11 pitchers, then they both might make it. Also, Silva will be on the 25 man roster.

The problem I have with keeping Fuld over Tracy is that our bench would blow something fierce and we'd have little power aside from Nady.

I think there's next to no chance Fuld makes the team. Tracy or Millar will be there before him.

I'm not sure Lou would go into the season with 4 outfielders, with one of them possibly unable to throw. If Tracy can prove he can be adequate in the corners then he might be able to beat out Fuld, but he hasn't played out there since 2005.

Are you assuming Fukudome will play center when Byrd needs a day off?

I think it will be

RF Fukudome
SS Theriot
1B Lee
3B Ramirez
LF Soriano
CF Byrd
2B Baker
C Soto

Nady
Hill
Fontenot
Blanco
Fuld

Zambrano
Dempster
Wells
Gorzelanny
Silva

Marmol
Guzman
Marshall
Grabow
Parker
Caridad
Gray

As soon as Lilly is ready to go, Silva will be fake injured or DFA'ed.

There is no way they go with 4 OF's, especially with one of them hurt. The only way Tracy or Millar make the team is if they start the year with 11 pitchers, and the only reason they make the team is to back up Lee, as Baker is going to back up Ramirez. Once Nady is healthy, he can back up Lee.

No matter what we do, the bench looks to be fairly weak. If we go with 5 OFs, we lose power, and if we go with an additional IF, our OF defense suffers.

And wow does our rotation scare me past the top 3. Good thing my expectations are low this season or I'd be flipping out.

I'm assuming Tracy is able to play a corner spot.

he can, but he's only needed at first. And that's only if Nady can't handle it.
