He likely was told to go on any groundball up the middle.

People shouldn't be doubting that he is. He's a very good pitcher.

I gotta admit, even I'm surprised. I've always been high on Wells, thought he would continue to pitch well, but he kinda always seemed to have success with good location and throwing strikes. However, these first two games this year his stuff has looked great, wow. He might be better than I thought.

He reminds me of Matt Morris when he was in St. Louis.

Yeah, his stuff's better than some think and his location is always superb. He put on a clinic those last two at bats against Weeks and Hart. Paints the corner with a fastball at 92 mph to Weeks to strike him out, then elevates in a perfect spot to get Hart swinging for a K at 93 mph. You hit your spots at that velocity, you're going to be pretty damn effective. But he changes speeds constantly as well too.
His changeup's impressed me the most today. Len and Bob were saying how much he's been working on it and you can definitely see it's improved. I really hope Maddux keeps working with him because their games really are pretty similar...

Lilly comes back and I think our rotation might be the deepest in the NL. With Wells as a 4th starter, and Silva has a 5th starter, I like it a lot.
