Gorzelanny can be a middle reliever. We're not going to do anything up the middle when bringing up Castro and moving Theriot to 2b is a much better solution than anything out there would be anyway, and we don't have to give up anything in the process.
Starting depth is very, very important. Injuries are going to happen all year, and Silva's been the worst starting pitcher in baseball over the last couple of years, so we need to see more out of him. Gorzelanny helps our bullpen more than at least a pitcher or two down do right now.
Look at how valuable Marshall was in the last couple of years, because we could call upon him to start when need be, but he was also useful out of the pen like Gorzelanny can be.
