In the article, Law provides a brief assessment on 3 Cub prospects - Eloy Jimenez, Rob Zastryzny, and Jen-Ho Tseng - who Law describes as "three of the most notables names"in Cubs' system after Baez, Bryant, Soler and Almora. He provides at best a luke warm assessment of the 3 saying that 2 days after watching the Big Four "didn't yield a ton of positive observations".

I read the article. Saying that he didn't show love for those 3 = accurate. Saying he doesn't show love outside of "Big Four" = inaccurate.
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.

So you don't see this every day. Kaplan quoting Rangers GM Jon Daniels:
Quote:Rangers GM Jon Daniels on Garza deal w/Cubs. "I thought way too short term w/that deal. That one's got a chance to haunt us + haunt me."
This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.

That's why I've always been a big believer in the greater fool theory. Daniels has played that role a few times already.

There's an ESPN the Mag article on Ian Kinsler in which Kinsler expresses his thoughts on Daniels. To summarize, he feels that Daniels is horrible as a GM and has pushed out the leaders that put together the solid Texas teams from the past 10 years.
I got nothin'.

I read that article too Andy. Kinsler is not happy. I like it when he said that he has friends there, but he still hopes they go 0-162

Even more brutal for Daniels is that I seriously think Olt is winning the starting 3B job.

Even if Olt and Edwards become just slightly above average major leaguers for several years, Daniels looks foolish.

Remember when people were complaining at the return?
EDIT on't forget Neil Ramirez was in that deal too.

Fuck, even if Olt becomes something for a year we win that trade.

Daniels made a bad trade going for the win. Stuff happens. How is that bad? A GM who doesn't have a bad trade on his resume is a GM who is too passive.
The past five years, the lowest win total for the Rangers is 87, they've been to two WS and one ALCS, and Daniels has made some good trades...Hamilton, trading Texiera to the Braves, getting Cliff Lee without giving up a ton. Sounds kind of good to me.

All I'm saying is that if he made that trade not even attempting to re-sign Garza, essentially having nothing to show for the deal now, he shouldn't be talking about being haunted by the trade at all. Just wear it.

Also, good stuff here. I had no idea that Theo sent Sutcliffe down to do recon work on our minor league pitching situation 2 years ago.

Man how can you not like Rick Sutcliffe? That was a great read Rok!

Again, Daniels himself is saying it was bad. That's rare.
