6 in the top 57 on MLB's prospect list. That's kinda fun.

I hope we do play service time shenanigans. It's beyond stupid to give up 162 games of control for 20 or so extra games this year. These writers are all dumbasses! All organizations do this, it isn't new.

I don't think that's actually the case. I think the problem is that it's top heavy with only hitters.....
I'm looking forward to see how Carson Sands does in his first full season.

Some of the arms the cubs have picked up the last couple of years are in place to really start making noise. We saw glimpses of it last year. But if healthy, I think the list will even out a little with more arms.

A year with Sands, Steele and Norwood will shore up the prospect rankings in the lower minors. There is also a rehabbing Dylan Cease who was considered a 1st rounder and maybe a top 10 pick before he got injured. A 9th pick this year won't hurt either.

Law himself says he took the whole system into account...not just the heavies at the top. That's why he ranked our system number 1.

Josh Vitters has signed with the Rockies.
What a disappointing pick he ended up being, especially chosen 3rd overall, with guys like Wieters, Bumgarner and Heywood chosen after him. In fairness to the Cubs he was scouted as the best pure hitter in the draft and most mock drafts always had us drafting him or Wieters in the draft. Just shows you what a crapshoot the draft can be, especially for HS hitters.

I don't know what the draft class looks like this year, but, I would bet we take a hitter with that 9th pick. The track record has been to take a top notch hitter then load up on pitching after.

And given that we seem to be primarily looking at the FA market to fill out the rotation for the next 3-5 years, picking another top bat seems to continue to make the most sense over the next couple drafts.

This is not some silly theory that's unsupported and deserves being mocked by photos of Xena.
