2020 Team
Doubt if Ross move will upset anyone.

Unfortunately for a team that’s supposedly needs a shake up, Ross doesn’t seem like the right choice.

Most likely saves significant cash which hopefully will be used on roster.

I find it hard to believe that Espada would cost significantly more.

I get the sense this move was done particularly for this group of players. I don't know why, but I think that Theo and Jed maybe would have preferred Espada, but recognized that this group will respond better to Ross.  Just my bullshit opinion

Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

If that is the case, then I hope he only signs a 2-year deal, as that will be the end of the line for this core group and likely the FO as well.

Agreed regarding Espada's salary.  Savings is in regards to Maddon's $6 MM.  Ross as a first year manager will probably be paid in the $500k-$1.5 MM per year range.

Yeah, I don't think there was any chance they were going to hire a big name.  Definitely fine with that.  I would take Ross over Girardi or the other "seasoned" names that were floated.

From my own experience--outside of baseball, of course--it can be a bit of a rough transition going from a colleague to a supervisor role, even if "Grandpa" had been granted a certain authority based on age and experience. This could get tricky.

I guess KB is looking for what he and his agent consider justice. I'm not sympathetic. The MLBPA should have negotiated a better CBA.

I see no shot of this happening.

I second it. I think even as they talk about not living in the past, their actions have shown they're tied to this core/group, and honestly, I get that, they broke sports' biggest curse.

This is a good point. It was clear when he left his role was missed, that's why part of me is happy about the hire. I can see it working with/for Rizzo and Bryant and even Willson. Might be odd with veterans though, like Heyward and despite them being so close, Lester.

Girardi definitely feels like a current Phillies move.

Seems like it's designed to push Klentak out the door.
