2021 Team
Dillon Maples DFA'd and Nico and Thompson reactivated from the IL. Will anyone care if Maples figures things out elsewhere? I personally think he will always be terrible despite the obvious talent.

I hope he does, but i just don't see it.

Maples if he learned how to control his fastball would have been an elite level closer. He had his chances and suffered the yips too often on the mound.

Hell probably sign with the Brewers and become the next Hader.

I somehow completely forgot we don't currently have a GM lol..

GMs cost money, which the Rickettses don't have.

Say youve got a COVID-19 outbreak without saying youve got a COVID-19 outbreak -

Cubs call up:-

Trent Giambrone

Erick Castillo

Dakota Mekkes and Tyler Payne in the taxi squad.

I can honestly say I've never heard of either Castillo or Payne. Were either on the 40-man?

How the hell are the Cubs going to compete against the Brewers next season?

Breweries just owned the Cubs this season. Cubs were 4-15 against the Brew Crew. Part of it was timing - Cubs played the Brewers primarily in April, late June, August, and September. The Cubs sucked during the vast majority of these months. Yeah, the the Cubs might have sucked cause they were playing the Brewers. The Brewers have a good roster which was assembled over last 3-4 season with a focus on being able to beat the Cubs. Congrats as it not only beats the Cubs but took down the rest of the Central and the NL. Believe the Phillies are the only NL team that has a winning record against the Brewers. Nope, but I was close as the Cardinals are 8-10 against them currently.

Again, how the hell are the Cubs going to compete against the Brew Crew next season?

They aren't.

Hate the damn Breweries.

The team that gives me hope is the Giants. They're going to be at 105-108 regular season wins in a division with the Dodgers and Padres. They were projected to be an under .500 team. It won't happen for us, but still. Plus maybe all the Brewers' pitchers will punch walls and their dominance will dissipate.

Lots of conspiracy theories floating around Cubs social media that smaller outbreaks were ignored or otherwise underreported throughout 2021. The Hoyer/Ross regime has gotten off to a fine start.
