2021 Team
I'm more than ready for some major changes now and have been for some time, but it's funny to think about this year's team and how it may have been different if not for that freeze in spending from ownership. At one point the Cubs were 11 games over .500. Schwarber is 2-3 WAR better than Pederson, Same with Darvish over Davies. Moreover, I feel like Darvish would have had a very good chance of putting a stop to the that horrible slide in late June/early July.

I suppose peak 2021 Cubs were benefiting from a bullpen that simply wasn't going to keep doing what they were doing, and you're still a starter away from it mattering with the Brewer's rotation, but you can see where a few different decisions (particularly if you want to go really back to not signing Castellanos) could make a difference. Same with every team I know. But the Cubs becoming cheap robbed this core of another legit shot, for better or worse.

So long, Tepera.

Bailey Horn? Meh.

How is it, that in a seller's market the Cubs never seem to get the most from their trades?

Some men are born mediocre, some men achieve mediocrity, and some men have mediocrity thrust upon them.

Yes. Scratching my head as to how Starling Marte netted the Marlins Luzardo. Couldn't KB + cash have been offered in that deal straight up for him?

And Bailey Horn is a damn joke.

Holy shit, Rizzo to the Yankees?

Rosenthal just confirmed. I'm kind of in shock, I knew it was coming but still weird...and it being the Yankees, even weirder.

Yankees seem to understand that you can acquire assets and even stockpile them to make a run and ensure fan base stays active

Losing Rizzo sucks

Fangraphs have them as 7 (Alcantara) & 11 (Vizcaino) in the Yankees system, with Alcantara being a 50-grade prospect.

I was hoping Rizzo would go Red Sox from the possibilities we heard. Yanks? Gross.

That's a solid return.
