MILWAUKEE -- Aramis Ramirez is back on the bench again for Tuesday night's game against Milwaukee, and appears to be headed for the 15-day disabled list.
It's his second straight day off, though Ramirez struck out pinch-hitting Monday.
"We're going to explore some options with him and that's all I've got to say about that," manager Lou Piniella said.
Ramirez's left thumb still bothers him, and his poor hitting is dragging the team down.
"Rather than milking it along and possibly getting it 100 percent well... we'll see," Piniella said.
The Cubs are expected to call up third baseman Chad Tracy, who is hitting .396 at Triple-A Iowa since being sent down earlier this year.
Geovany Soto is sitting for the third time in four games. Tyler Colvin originally was on the bench, despite a right-hander on the mound, but was a late sub into left field in place of Alfonso Soriano.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
