The sticks they're using are more or less mini boat oars. Not netted sticks. They whack the ball more than toss it. Also, they can score field goals as well as score on net. There is tackling to some degree. Also, you have to touch the ball to the ground every 4 steps or every 3 passes. Also, hurling is thought to be at least 1100 years older than lacrosse and both are from distinctly different cultural backgrounds (hurling = Celts; lacrosse = Native Americans).
