A GM for a baseball team is the same job that my GM for my job has. It's the same type of job as any GM. It's management. Management of time, money, resources, etc. I would say that most people aren't cut out for that type of job. Most that he describes in the article couldn't handle the job. I have little experience at that tier of management, but think I could do it. So could a lot of people here. With the proper training, schooling (in general and in relationship to the job and experience in a management position, most that could manage a business successfully could probably manage a baseball team successfully.
But overall, most couldn't.
But overall, most couldn't.
If Angelo had picked McClellin, I would have been expecting to hear by training camp that kid has stage 4 cancer, is actually 5'2" 142 lbs, is a chick who played in a 7 - 0 defensive scheme who only rotated in on downs which were 3 and 34 yds + so is not expecting to play a down in the NFL until the sex change is complete and she puts on another 100 lbs. + but this is Emery's first pick so he'll get a pass with a bit of questioning. - 1060Ivy
