That's exactly right. And the Yankees waited until 1995, after he made only 25 errors in 1994, before they installed him at short.
The fact that Castro had 40 errors as a 19 year old doesn't mean he is going to be a terrible defender. He might end up a gold glove SS one day. But it sure makes the argument that we should bring him up NOW to improve our defense seem sort of silly.

Errors per game:
2009: 0.328 (39 in 119)
2010: 0.136 (3 in 22 / on pace for 16 in 119)
