Actually, there was a contest; you sent in a cassette tape (remember those?) in which you described an inning, or an at-bat or something, announcer-style. I think mine involved Strawberry hitting a GW HR. I kind of did a Jack Brickhouse-influenced thing.
A fringe benefit was being allowed to mingle down on the field and in the dugout before the game. I recall Brett Butler being especially nice. A fun night, obviously.

There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance
