Not wrong about his stuff. You can't tell with any of these kids until they get into these situations. And when you have a bullpen full of them, regardless of their ability and stuff, at least a couple of them are going to fail with this pressure in front of huge crowds. This is too damn predictable and makes me shake my head that people were actually okay with it. We need to overpay for a legitimate setup man if we have to. Maybe 2. It's that big of a need.

I don't think this team is otherwise good enough to trade away any valuable pieces for some set up guys. This team with the Yankees' pen still wouldn't win the division. Let's just suffer through what will surely be another painful season and wait 'til next year.

It won't be waiting til next year. Look at this team. It's now or not for a long time. I'd rather take the chance it's now, as unlikely as it is.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
It might take some time, but I think then we could sustain a long stretch of really good teams. Depending on what Ricketts does, personnel-wise, of course. I'd hate to mortgage that away for a Matt Karchner or a Bob Howry. No amount of veteran set up men is going to make this team a playoff team.
And the "wait 'til next year" didn't mean we'll be good next year. It's just what I (and everyone here) says every year.
