This thread isn't meant to be just for me to vamp in. I don't imagine it being constrained but I will tell you why I'm starting it and how I plan to post in it.
I've been pretty much obsessed with popular music since I was about eight years-old. My affection and familiarity begins to wane in the early '90s (precisely when I began writing criticism, professionally...sort of coincidentally...sort of not). I was a fan before I was a critic and I was smart enough to resign as a critic before I forgot how to be a fan.
I think there's great music from the past that's grossly under-appreciated. Some of it was once heralded and has mysteriously gained obscurity with age. Other music was just never well-known.
Partly because it's just who I am and partly because of the show I do, I'm digging all the time. I find wonderful stuff. I reconsider wonderful stuff that has receded from view.
I am an album-sharing blog junkie. In this thread I'm going to post links to the blog posts for albums for which I think people may share my affinity. I'm also pretty sure that you'll find exploring other posts on these blogs fun. They're candy stores.
I'm going to post those links because I think the blogger sharing the album deserves their blog post to accompany what they share, whether I agree with their views or not. As such, some of the download links will probably go bad...it's the nature of those sorts of posts.
I'm thinking that I'll post links to things twenty or more years old. Some of it will be stuff I never heard until recently myself.
I would be grateful for other people's old music recommendations.
