He was pretty damn good during his short time with us. 145 and 125 OPS+ in 2001 and 2002.

Yeah McGriff was fine... it's just those 2 years were considered such disappointments and people thought getting him could put us in the playoffs, so he's seen negatively. Plus you can't hate on the dude for the Tom Emanski commercial alone.

He killed at the plate in 2001. It wasn't his fault that he couldn't single-handedly launch us into the playoffs. Weren't people just upset with him for holding up the trade? He dragged his feet a little in accepting the trade, IIRC.
