THAT ISN"T THE POINT AND YOU KNOW IT. Bradley HAD to be traded. There are no ifs ands or buts about it.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Seeing as how I've been removed from the daily media in Chicago (somewhat self-exiled), I'm willing to but the point that at this juncture, there is no way that Bradley could be playing for this team in 2009. My question is how the hell did it get this bad? You knew Bradley was a twat when you signed him to a risky deal. Basically, I see this as a case of Hendry losing the battle for Bradley's attention to the media and the fans who will boo anyone in a 1-15 slump. It was Hendry's job to make it clear that 3 years, $30 million dollars say "We want you on this ball club."
Should it be a GM's job to baby one of his players? Not ideally, but Hendry took this battle on and has proven that he wasn't up to the challenge. If only the whole situation were merely academic, where Hendry could shrug his shoulders and say, "Well, I tried. I guess there's no reaching the fucker." But this wasn't an exercise--it was a bad business move that ends up having the effect of getting two expensive years of Carlos Silva.
So maybe this deal is better than what could have been expected at this point; I honestly couldn't say because I didn't pay attention to how bad things got last year. But any decision that leads to two seasons of Silva just pisses me the fuck off. I was holding off on any Hendry hate until this played out. Now I feel he merits my scorn.
I'm sure he's quaking in his boots.
