Milt comes back and apologizes...this thing is ancient history before the ink is dry on the next edition. Cub fans are a very forgiving lot.
The great thing about these discussions...aside from the fact that none of us were in the room...is that no one ever discusses the climate in which he was signed. There were always question marks about Bradley's psyche, but there was never any question as to whether or not he was going to get paid. The team that signed him was going to give him years and dollars. He was one of the premier FA's last year.
Making this a referendum on Hendry's performance is ridiculous. I believe the great majority of GM's would have taken the risk.
I do like Hendry. I do think he's a good GM. This was the right move at the time.
