First things first
-I don't love Hendry
-I'd be perfectly fine with it if they fired him tomorrow.
-I don't think he is a particularly great General Manager
-I don't love Hendry
My point is that the specific arguments used against him are usually bad.
I know everyone here ( on a team message board) has more infomation available to them then Hendry does, and I know everyone here is acutely aware of what every other major league team was offering Bradley, and I know everyone here realized that the Cubs could have signed Bradley to a series of 365 single day contracts, but Hendry was too stupid to realize that and randomly threw 2 darts at a board and hit a three and a triple 10 in order to come up his contract offer to Bradley. But I'm willing to overlook that.
See I think Hendry was convinced that Ibanez, Dunn and Abreu could not play right field for the Cubs for 3 years. I still think that's true. I think Hendry thought Bradley might be a pain in the ass, but tolerable. I think he thought if he hit, people would tolerate him. I think THAT is why he signed him. I also think he gave him 3/30 because that is what the market, at that time, dictated. I think there were other teams offering similar deals. I think it's possilble, just possilbe that Hendry knew more than we do. Maybe.
that being said, the Miles deal was inexcusable.

I wish that I believed in Fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.
