I don't get the impression that Boggs did this daily.
But on a travel day? Why not?
BTW, sometimes people forget how physically different world-class athletes are from the rest of us. The stories about Babe Ruth's eating and drinking habits would seem like total science fiction, if they hadn't been repeated by about 100 different people over the years, including his wives and best friends. And remember that he was 6'2, 200 to 225 pounds. He wasn't some leviathan.
And I always remember this tidbit from Hollywood Henderson's bio, about his days with the Dallas Cowboys: for those years, his roommate was Ed "Too Tall" Jones.
Henderson's own daily intake of steaks, beer, cocaine, amphetamines, whiskey and whatnot was startling. But he said that Too Tall would come home from practice every day and drink a case of Budweiser.
A case.
Every single day, for years.
I freely admit that I'm not built that way. I'm sure that few are. But some are.

There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance
