That's because he dives a lot and crashes into walls and shit. Fans eat that kind of stuff up. Just like fans love guys who bust their ass down the line on a weak ground ball to the shortstop.

I understand that. I've haven't seen him play much personally though, so I just always assumed he was a better than average defender based on the hype.
