That actually was worse than 2003. First team to ever win the first two games in a 5 game championship series and manage to lose the next 3 (at least that's my recollection). Sutcliffe goes 16-1 in the regular season, wins the first playoff game (including hitting a homer) and then manages to have a bad game in game 5. Plus, we've got the Leon Durham ball through the legs. It was awful.

Yeah. I would have to agree. It was a perfect storm of heartbreak. In '84 I don't remember getting my hopes up until after game 2, and I was too young to get that emotionally involved to the point of feeling stupid for believing a championship was even a possibility. But game 6 in '03 ranks right up there as one of the worst days of my life. I didn't think it was possible to feel the range of emotions and mood swings that I experienced on that night.
