Did You Ever Really Recover From Last Season?

<!--quoteo(post=62492:date=Sep 10 2009, 09:13 AM:name=veryzer)-->QUOTE (veryzer @ Sep 10 2009, 09:13 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><!--quotec-->i'm not saying i'm not excited every season, it's just that the edge is off. there's a dark cloud now at the beginning of the year and i get tired of them so much faster than i used to.

and i don't believe they'll ever win the world series which makes me question why i even bother.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Exactly. The thing is, I don't know if I'll ever be able to just sit down and enjoy a game the way I used to. I still care about the team but this is no longer fun, and until they win a championship, it all seems like excruciatingly boring and sadistic foreplay, with no payoff. This season has brought me no joy, and I can't imagine things getting any better for me if we follow this up with a series or mediocre seasons. Maybe that's what it will take for me to stop caring as much and just go back to having low expectations and just enjoying the game again. Maybe apathy would be a good thing in my Cubs life.
