I don't like this new trend either, believe me, but if it weren't for the fact that our fans seemingly didn't give a shit about wins or losses for SO many years and that in general crowds perpetuate stupid behavior (not just Wrigley crowds) where it's monkey see, monkey do, it wouldn't raise an eyebrow in another market. It's the fact that things have changed so rapidly that makes everyone in the media so shocked by how certain players are treated here nowadays. Let's see how things evolve in a few years before we say that our fans are the most reactionary in baseball. The fanbase is going through an unprecedented amount of turmoil and angst for the first time in a generation, so I'm willing to cut them some slack, even though some of their behavior disturbs me.
