Watched it today.
First off, I thought it was extremely well done. Excellent movie with an original storyline. Secondly, meaning no disrespect to you lads, it was refreshing to see this sort of movie not set in the USA. I couldn't see it working otherwise. Having been to South Africa last year, I very much appreciate this movie more than what I probably would have. This movie is all about the connotations of apartheid and the after effects of that regime that is now affecting today's South African society. A look at it from a different perspective so to speak. Replace the "prawns" with native africans, especially 'foreign' blacks from countries such as Zimbabwe, Liberia etc that have illegally entered the country and basically that is what its like. Those slums exist and they are everywhere. You may have the richest area of J'burg with million 'rand' mansions and right next door you will have 10000 black people living in a make shift slum built from scavenged material they find from dump sites. Living in absolute squalor. The setting up of special police, the segregation and eventual forced eviction all comes back to apartheid.
Its also an extremely violent movie with huge amounts of gore, so it is not one to take the kids to.
4/5 stars
