The song makes me happy, even though it's pretty hokey.
Also, I love that we don't do "god bless america" in the 7th inning, sorry if that makes me a dick. I just really don't get that. Why do so many teams do that now?? It's a baseball game, sing take me out to the ballgame. Do we do it on holidays or sundays still? Holidays I get it, that's fine, but normally, it's so weird to me. It's a baseball game.
I think I love you Sheps. Perfectly said. So awkward at Dodger Stadium when they take 5 to sing GBA.

Exactly, it's strange there. It just feels out of context for me and a little forced. The anthem does the job in my mind, it's not a nationalistic event and we're not North Korea, take me out to the ballgame is fine if it's not the 4th or memorial day or the like. Plus if it's the 7th and I'm trying to get one last beer before the cutoff, I don't want to feel like a douche because I'm ignoring GBA.

Then you get those fans who use it as the queue to beat the traffic. You'd be surprised how many more fans can squeeze out of an aisle during an extra long half inning.
At Petco Park, I find it odd when they honor the Marines with the Marine song/anthem/battlecry/whatever. I'm all for the military and all, but at some point, that standing ovation gets played, especially during the fourth inning, when the Padres are getting raped.

I hate my pretentious sounding username too.
