If only Hendry could have looked into his crystal ball and saw that Soriano would suffer the first 2 real injuries of his career in his first 2 years as a Cub. If he doesn't get hurt in 07 or 08, no one's saying a word about his contract.

My memory isn't perfect, but as I recall, I said from day one that it was a horrible, horrible contract. I was glad to have Soriano, but I believe I thought from the moment it went down that it was <b>the worst positional player contract in baseball.</b>

Close seconds are ones like Matthews and Hunter. But they aren't nearly as long.

As Googs pointed out in another thread, the contracts to Vernon Wells, Todd Helton and A-Rod are just as bad.
There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance
