Oatmeal, you're new here, but this is a longstanding tradition here at SOI: guys who dislike the Sox and love the Cubs are considered traitors by some, because they don't hate the Sox.
I'm in the PcB and Clapp camp. I love tom and Butch, but I don't think "hating the White Sox" is a qualification for being a Cub fan. And I do like MLB in general, so I'm fascinated by great athletes (like Pujols) or great feats (like a Perfect Game). Doesn't mean I like the Cubs any less.
I think PcB's "Cubs" tattoo pretty much renders any suspicion of his allegiances moot.
Finally, I have to ask you guys this: if you had the choice of a Cardinal throwing a Perfect Game, or Buerhle doing it, who would you choose?
Be very careful how you answer this, because, IMO, it is a perfect litmus test to tell if you're really more of a Sox-hater than a Cub fan. (which would make you similar to the Sox "fans" who consider Cub losses more cool than Sox wins.)
Keep in mind that we could very well miss the playoffs by 1 game.

There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance
