So, according to Phil, we are going to forget about 2003, and forget about 2007 when he was so good, people ripped Lou for taking him out, but we are still going to mock his postseason pitching?
This is what Phil said:
<!--quoteo-->QUOTE <!--quotec-->We'll dismiss the 2003 NL Championship Series as old news and blame Piniella for lifting him when he was in a 1-1 game against Brandon Webb in the 2007 playoff opener, but his pitching had as much to do with the ugly Game 2 loss to Los Angeles last year as did the four infield errors.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Umm, no, it didn't. In that game, Zambrano let up 3 earned runs. He let up 9 baserunners in 6.1 innings. He had one bad inning. In that inning he let up 4 hits. Of course, we also made 2 errors that inning, so that 2 of the hits came after FIVE OUTS had been made. He also struck out the side that inning.
Of the 3 earned runs he let up, one scored on an error, one scored on a home run by roidy mcroiderson, and one scored because by some miracle, the Dodgers were able to get to Neil Cotts, when Zambrano left with one out and a man at first.
So please explain to me how Zambrano's pitching in 2008 had as much to do with the game 2 loss as the terrible fielding?

I wish that I believed in Fate. I wish I didn't sleep so late. I used to be carried in the arms of cheerleaders.
