The Brewers won more playoff games than the Cubs last year.
Just sayin'.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
so?
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
My point was that they are for real. They were for real last year when you didn't sweat them. So maybe they're for real this year as you aren't sweating them.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
They were for real with the best pitcher on the planet for half the season and another one that Gallardo won't top in production.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Their offense is much better, though -- they're showing a lot more patience at the plate and actually taking walks (so far, their offense looks a lot like ours did last year). They have a solid bullpen, and Ned Yost is no longer at the helm. They could match their win total from last season and it wouldn't surprise me at all.
<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Their offense has been playing better, and they just lost a key part of that with Weeks going down for the year.
They've been MUCH more patient, but will it really continue?
Braun had a .335 obp last year, .451 this year.
The 36-year-old Cameron has a .390 obp. It was .331 last year, .328 the year before. He only has 2 more strikeouts than walks so far. He's had twice as many strikeouts as walks for pretty much his whole career, I doubt he's all of a sudden changed his approach.
Prince Fielder is at .431. .372 last year.
Corey Hart had 27 walks last year in 657 plate appearances. He has 19 now in 166.
Yes, their team seems to be preaching it more and they could all be working harder to be patient and get on base, but I doubt it continues at anywhere near this rate.
