Just long enough to get DL'd and paid for another year. I'm sure his agent is on the phone with Hendry now looking to tie up the 2010 season. It's gotta go something like this:
Agent: "Hey Jim, I'm calling about Chad."
Hendry: "Yeah, he gave us some tough innings this season. Well, it was a tough out he got before we put him on the DL. Lou doesn't understand our agreement."
Agent: "About that. We looked at the books and realized that he'll need one more season of sitting on the DL to get his grandchildren's college paid for. You know how the economy's been."
Hendry: "Consider it done. We'll finish it up in January."<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Sadly, I can't think of any other scenario that explains what has happened with Chad Fox the last few years.
