The Reds and Pirates are better because their young talent is developing -- not because they made any awesome acquisitions.
The Cards' bullpen was responsible for a whole lot of blown saves last season. If TLR figures that out and if Carpenter can make 20 starts (I know -- big if), then they're also better.
Of course, in your guys' minds, all of the bad stuff we've seen from the Cubs so far is temporary -- as is all of the good stuff we've seen from our NL Central rivals.
