Seems a bit unfair to call Fox a "career" minor leaguer, no? And Hoffpauir would have been a Major Leaguer a couple years ago if not for Derrek Lee never missing any time.
I think you'll find I'm much less out on a limb with this platoon idea than the Hollandbois (although many agreed with me then that it would be an ACCEPTABLE platoon because no one else was available).
You're missing (or blatantly ignoring) the main point: Derrek Lee SUCKS now.

I'm not missing the point, I'm well aware that Lee is not what he used to be. I'm also aware that Hoffpauir/Fox would be worse. Also, someone who is virtually the same age as I am and has yet to see significant time in the MLB is a career minor leaguer, no matter how you slice it. Also, saving $10 M does nothing when there's no one to spend it on and is counterproductive when it would be used to gain salary in a trade that would cost talent in the first place.
