I agree Tom. I think they traded DeRo for pieces of a trade to SD. I have little doubt it pissed Hendry off that it didn't go through and he then traded for Heilman as a way of shaping up a pitching rotation he expected to have Peavy in.

I believe this was the case as well. Hendry should've had the deal in place (approval to take on his contact and the pieces the Padres wanted) before he traded DeRosa. He screwed up.
