I'm not sure that's ever gonna happen. When the deal was first made they were planning on him as an everyday player, then he was going to platoon with Freel and now it looks like Wigginton, Jones and Markakis are going to be the everyday outfielders.

They've talked about committing to giving Pie most of the ABs against RHP. He's going to get regular ABs. It's just a question of how long. They stuck it out with Jones last year and he had a very rough start to the year.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
That's absolutely the exact opposite of what they've said recently. He's looking at being the 5th OFer or not even being on the MLB club.

I don't buy that a team struggling to fill out a rotation spot is going to let go of a player that they just acquired by giving up a starting pitcher. Maybe it's just a backwards way of thinking, but to me it doesn't make much sense.
