They <i>can</i>, yes. I think they'll all happen except for Fontenot at SS(I mean he could find himself there in an emergency once or twice).

I'm wondering why Bobby Scales never is mentioned as a possibility as a utility man. He's played quite a bit at 2B, 3B, and OF and although I'm not sure, I believe he's a damn good defender from what I've heard. He's a journeyman minor leaguer and is 31 years old, but he's always had a pretty good OBP in the minors. On top of that he had a phenomenal year at AAA last year. Just always confused me why he isn't even mentioned as a possibility.

Aren't you one of those "25th man doesn't matter" people? If he can come in and play good defense every once in a while, why not <b>consider</b> him for a job?
I'm not saying he should or shouldn't, I'm just curious as to why a guy like Luis Rivas is talked about in the media as possibly making the team and Scales isn't.

Every roster position matters, some just matter significantly more than others. Scales sucks, if there's a roster he belongs on, it's not the Cubs and it's not at the MLB level.
