Dude, you guys are trying to pretend that Gathright is going to be the first
full-time pinch-runner since Herb Washington on the '74 A's,
and I'm calling you on it.
Accept reality...he's going to get LOTS of playing time. Mostly in Right Field.
hendry had nothing to do with patterson and neifi batting 1-2. nothing whatsoever. that was 100% dusty.
if bradley gets hurt, hoff will get a bulk of those starts. gathright may spot start, but hoffpauir is going to be the primary back up. why? because lou loves that kid. why? because he's a hitting machine. if bradley and/or soriano get hurt, hoffpauir is gonna see a lot of playing time.

I hope you're right about Hoffpauir. I hope.
However, I was stunned that he didn't make the post-season roster last year, so the notion that "Lou loves him," is far-fetched.
As for Hendry having 0% to do with Dusty's hiring, lack of firing, or of Jim's signing the team's players...is that really even an argument?
Anyway, I hope Hoff makes the team, and I hope that when (not if) Bradley goes down, that Lou doesn't replace him too often with Gathright. Or worse, that he doesn't replace him with Fuk, and put Gathright in CF, thus creating nirvana for the opposing pitcher.

wow. hendry hired dusty but it's not his job to tell dusty who to play and where. that was 100% dusty. jim had nothing to do with it. you're wrong. admit it.
and it's not far fetched to think lou loves hoffpauir. read the chicago papers, it's obvious.
