Another point of view - as the free agent market becomes a less viable alternative to plugging holes in team's roster the Cubs should have loaded up on free agent signings while drafting and developing prospects the last few years. Players, especially star players, are going to be less likely to move from existing clubs via free agency and in general be more expensive in the future,so why give up years of competing by only concentrating on developing prospects.
