I loved the DeRosa deal from the beginning, the current trio we have up the middle, not so much. We need another MI no matter what, the only 3 guys that can play 2B/SS on the 40 man are Fontenot, Miles, and Theriot. However, there is an open spot on the 40 man and needs to be filled by another MI, pronto.

As I recall, no one saw DeRosa as anything more than a utility guy and many thought he was overpaid. 2 years later he's considered the mvp of the team and highly underpaid. shrug

I think it's safe to say that DeRo wildly outperformed even the highest expectations these past 2 years. The player Hendry traded was a guy coming off a legitimately outstanding season. If he regresses a LOT, he'll still likely put up better numbers than Miles.
As for the Miles=Eckstein chatter, I don't recall DeRo dogging it, playing like a pussy, or doing anything other than being a grinder.

There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance
