This quote, from Verducci, perfectly sums things up:
....which only goes to show how quickly the baseball world turns over these days. A year ago this week the Red Sox were a model franchise, owning the best record in the league, with Epstein and manager Terry Francona holding a firm grip, Gonzalez putting up MVP numbers and Beckett contending for the ERA crown. The Dodgers? They were in bankruptcy, with McCourt keeping the team operational only because of a loan from MLB.

There's nothing better than to realize that the good things about youth don't end with youth itself. It's a matter of realizing that life can be renewed every day you get out of bed without baggage. It's tough to get there, but it's better than the dark thoughts. -Lance
