The guy that was the director of conditioning for the Rangers in 2003 was just on Espnews and had some interesting things to say. He said that in the 03 Spring Training, A-Rod, Palmeiro, and Juan Gone approached him and Buck Showalter. They asked if the workload could be lowered, that they didn't need all this extra training. He said in his 13 years doing this he'd never heard a single player request this. He found A-Rod's performance a bit fishy that year with how little he had been training in comparison to the past.
