I was one of the guys at the last home game in 2004, chanting his name. But he can go fuck himself now.<!--QuoteEnd--><!--QuoteEEnd-->
If he didn't work as an announcer for the White Sox, which I would do as well in a heartbeat, I don't think you'd have a problem with him.

I know mm didn't care so much, but why the quip about 101 years? It isn't just that he works for the Sox now, but it appears that he has completely bought into their Cubs-hating culture. That's the part I don't like.

I'm not trying to be a prick, more than point out the obvious but.....kind of like how some Cub fans have such a blatant White Sox hating culture?
Do I think the guy should just get over it, yes. I think that because it's just not healthy to carry all that sort of negativity around with you. But let's take a look at this from his side. This guy worked for the Cubs over a span of over three different decades. I honestly believe he gave everything he possibly could to his job, and I do think the guy is (especially after meeting him) vastly prideful ... you combine the longevity of his entire body of work and how things ended, and as with all bad relationships, some people can be vindictive and/or hold serious grudges. Hell, I've had personal experience withat myself. I think the guy needs to let it go, but that does not change the simple fact that he DID care about this team and give everything he had to it for DECADES. Bottom line, I think he wasn't just embarrassed, and pissed off. I think the guy was seriously hurt by how he was treated and I don't think that five years of pain outweighs his cumulative positive overall body of work. Should he get off his soap box, yes, do I understand why he's pissed off...yes. Would I feel exactly the same .. probably.
That's just me. That's just how I see things.
